multiple instances possible ?
Dear Pandora people, this looks promising indeed to an inveterate Eudora user (more than 25 years...) ! I have checked out alternatives over the years but never found anything that was even close..
One question - can I run multiple instances of Pandora (one of the features that I really liked - keeping different jobs separate, never having to think about using the right sender, signature, etc etc)
And another - can I create the data folders wherever I want them (which is not where Windows wants to put them)?
Looking forward to hearing your answer before taking the next big step,
best Zazie

Re: multiple instances possible ?
Hello zazie and welcome to Pandora forum!
Yes, you can pre-specify your main data folder via command-line/shortcut:
-data=[folder path]
So for multiple instances create several shortcuts, ie:
C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe -data="M:\DataMain"
C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe -data="M:\DataAlternative"
Mailboxes, personalities, filters, signatures, stationery it's all stored inside your main data folder, so each instance will have it's own.
Regarding the settings that contain no personal data (such as windows coordinates, composing, viewing preferences etc), you can choose to share among instances, or use separate for each instance.
Under Settings/System Environment, check 'Store settings inside':
Configuration file -> Each instance is tied with it's own settings/configuration file.
Windows registry -> All instances will share the same settings. In Windows registry it's under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pandora.

Re: multiple instances possible ?
thank you! I hope I can figure out my way into the settings - if I guess correctly, this has to be done "manually" rather than during the installation wizard? the shortcuts you mention - you mean editing the properties of the desktop shortcut created upon installation ? I will try and contact you again if I run into trouble. best, Zazie

Re: multiple instances possible ?
That's correct.
Default shortcut (with no parameters), as created during installation, will instruct Pandora to use default Windows data folder as a root for main data folder.
Of course you can assign your main data folder via UI. To do so:
1. Click View/Mailboxes from the main menu.
2. Right-click on first root item on Mailboxes Pane.
3. Hit Change, browse to folder and hit Select.
For settings hit Settings/General from the main menu. (Alt+G)
